Oh, ya.. My Bangkok holiday trip detailed. Very long..

Day1 - night flight

I met shortie and anna at T1 airport. We took a nite flight to Bangkok using Finn air airline. I tot it was airbus type (budget airplane) but it was the Boeing MD-11 type. I’m so clumsy at the check in counter. I queued up until I realized it was solely for business class. I had to re-queue again at economy queue. However, the ground staffs were so slow until we waited nearly an hour and reached the boarding time and we were not done yet. The business class had offered to check in for us since there are tons of ppl behind us, queuing to check in.

Finally we had our baggage check in and the airport was announcing for the last call for our flight. Phew.. We ran into our gate as it was located abit far from entrance. I wonder what had happened for that rest of the ppl still queuing to check in.

In the end, our flight was delayed. The flight dun not have the any entertainment except music listening. At least i dun felt boring since there is a chinese music channel. Also this is my 1st time to see air steward on the plane and there are 3 air stewards in total on this flight. The in-flight meal was not nice except the bread and soft drink. They offer a basket of warm bread, serving everyone to have additional helping. I took one as i was so hungry even i had a heavy dinner beforehand.

When we reached the Bangkok terminal 2 airport ard 12.30am (Singapore time, the custom was fast as there are no queue. We went to search for our local agent for airport to hotel transfer. We saw a lady agent and she kept promoting tiger show and massage spa etc. However we had our plans already. She asked us to wait a while as she still got 2 more passengers. We waited and nearly Zzz..

We waited for 1h 30 min and there are no signs of tat 2 passengers. It was 2am Singapore time and we are super sleepy.. In the end, the 2 passengers were already left and check in in their hotel, sleeping.. Duh.. We waited like an idiot there.

We were sent to Asia hotel. I tot there will be no more hip up when we arrived the hotel. However, they requested to have 2000 baht for deposit. Duh.. I brought small amt of money and the part of my money was freezed due to deposit. Worst of all, I didn't bring my credit card there as they were willing to accept credit card instead. No choice as we had to split the amt of deposit with anna. I had to fork out 1000 baht. Next time, i will bring my credit card whenever i travel!

After all the matter had settled and returned to our room. The bed was not delivered yet. At least the service was fast and we were so tired. It was 3am Singapore time when we had changed to our clothes and Zzz...

Somehow there was a weird sound in the room..

Anna was sleeping soundly like a log. I paused a moment and shortie spring up out of the bed. We stared to each other and we knew we heard something. Yap, it was not our imagination. We did hear something.

I tot someone want to open our door and I bravely went to the door to check our door were properly lock. There was no one at the door and I confirmed the door handle was locked. We two were darn scared and we share a single bed together.

Throughout the night, the noise is constant occurred and there is a traffic noise whenever a motor vehicle passed the alley next to the building. I didn’t sleep until 5am Singapore time. We 3 gals were discussing what the heck the sound from. Later I managed to catch a short nap till 7am.

Day 2 - Pratunam market, Lalaisap market and MBK

We had our American breakfast at the café. It had a variety of food and it tasted better than genting first world hotel.

We planned to go pratunam market as internet stated open at 8am Bangkok time. Since shortie never tried the tutu transport and we approached one park outside the hotel. However driver told us that it had not opened yet. So we asked him to go another local non-tourist market instead. He never heard before and I offer him the map I printed out. He still doesn’t know the location. We thank him and left. I wonder tourists like me know the area and he was a local there that still don’t know their local market.

We took a train down instead. Our hotel was just next to the sky train and we traveled to chong nonsi station. Since we knew the market but we don’t know really the actual location. We tried to explore the area to find the market and we found it less than 10 min. We had a good time there as we found a lot of good bargain stuffs. Since it was early morning and there are a lot of takeaway local stalls. Even the Macdonald sold vanilla ice cream cone at 9 baht ($0.36 SGD).

We met a lot of stall owners and are quite helpful with each other. For example, one of the Thai helpers knew Cantonese and kept translating the price for us with the owner who doesn’t know English. After that, we went to other stores and he popped over and helps us asking the owners for prices. Also we learned from him “how much” in Thai.

We left the market at lunch hour and entered a Thai restaurant for lunch. We don’t know what the store is selling what type of food. The only reason we enter the restaurant is because we concluded that it will be cheap as there are students inside having meals.

In the end, we ordered a set meal of 3 with a pot of long bean tom yam soup, a plate of stirred fried chilli prawn and a plate of pork cutlet with spicy and sour sauce. The whole set meal included 3 bowl of white rice. We also order a bowl of non spicy egg noodle with meat for shortie as she can’t take too spicy food. Overall, the food was nice and cheap. It only cost $4.60 per person.

Next we went back to pratunam market by taxi. It is a wholesaler for clothes. This is one of the areas that I never came before. We were told by the tour agent in Singapore that there are a lot of cheap fashion clothes. Since we don’t know the actual location and we only anyhow explored. It was rather messy area and we enter a lane to a market area. They really sold all type of clothes such as the fantasy dresses for show girls, school uniforms etc.

We exit the area and went around explored. We walked along the street and it was like pasar malam. It sold shoes, fake branded stuffs and belts etc. We saw a lot of people, holding big plastic bags with jeans and clothes. We enter into a complex and it was heaven for shoppers for all types of clothes. It has shirts to office wear to the latest fashion clothes. The gals had bought bags of clothes at very low prices. However, they usually dun sell one piece. They sold minimum 3 pieces. Some stores dun even sell to retail shoppers and they only sold to retail stall owners.

We exited the complex and discovered an alley of two sides which have ample stalls for shoppers like us. We can dig jeans from a pool of jeans for $4 only. Our shopping bags are too heavy and we decided to return hotel by taking tutu. Shortie is the one who bargain for the tutu though she is her 1st time to take tutu transport. She loved it immediately as she found it was thrill and exciting. From tat moment onward, she kept want to take tutu if we didn’t transport by train or too tired.

We are darned tired when we returned our room. However we continued to go Man Boon Kong for dinner. I discovered that MK restaurant was opened in MBK. It was similar to Coca restaurant (steam boat) but at a lower cost. We had our dinner at Mk restaurant and we ate until bloated. It only cost us $20 for the whole meal. Cheap right?

We continued to shop around Tokyu department store and went to the opposite complex. (There is a link way near the Watson shop to another building) It is quite similar to Singapore Far East. However it closed at 9pm. Since we were too tired and we bargained tutu back to our hotel. We bargained to have 30 baht for the trip. Anna and shortie were board when he changed his mind to 40 baht. My left foot was on the tutu and my right one was on the ground. I want to settle the price before taking the transport. I asked him 30 baht and he asked me to aboard. The moment i sat down, he kept want to increase to 40 baht. We 3 gals together kept bargaining 30 baht. He kept mumbling like a monk is chanting his script non stop until we reached the hotel. We gave up as it only cost 10 baht more (equal to 40cents). The whole trip cost $1.20 back to our hotel.

We still heard the weird sound when we are sleeping..

Day 3 - Chatucha weekend market, Central, MBK

It was Saturday and we decided to go for the Chatucha Weekend market by train. It only opens for weekend. It is one of the popular areas for shopping all sorts of items. It has household stuffs to fashion clothes to animals to books and even antique.

Although I went there twice before, the market will never sold anything similar when you next time returned the area. Even my cousin who lived in Bangkok who returns on next weekend to buy a same plate, she can’t find back a same type though it was the same store.

This time I managed to explore a 2nd hand sections, fake branded clothes, clothes, household utensils, bags, costume jewellery, towels, books, furniture and local gifts for 5 hours.

Next we went to Central department store to have a Japanese meal in the restaurant. Also we went to buy sanrio products and gals stuffs. We also exited the building and walked to Gayson plaza and Central World plaza to shop for Bangkok bags.

After that we took a tutu to MBK for have our pizza dinner. The tutu driver was rather stunned when we bargained the price. We managed to cut down 60% off the original price. We continued to explore the opposite building to shop as the previous day we didn’t complete the whole complex.

As usual, we took tutu back. Since all of us had finished all our notes and left the coins. We counted tat we had 39.50baht left in our pocket. We bargain the driver for 39baht. He agreed with our silly price. This time the local tutu drivers who parked along the street were stunned tat we asked one who is on the mid of the road instead of them. They were even surprise that we bargained for the local rate instead of tourist rate. They are the stupid stalker who nearly stopped our tutu to depart and kept asking us questions. We ignored them and our driver quickly drove off..

Day 4 - Explore inside and around the Hotel, Bangkok airport and Singpore

Today is the last day in Bangkok. Since we had arranged the timing with the local agent to pick us up to airport at 11.30am, we planned tat we will stroll around our hotel area and the street to take photos. We, 3 silly gals entered a 7-11 next to the hotel. We are like 3 idiots inside the stores in front of the local residents. They kept staring at us in weird looks as we are super noisy inside. It is because the products are darn cheap compared to Singapore stores. The local felt the stores are slight expensive compared to their local provision shop. The 7-11 store sold a lot of Disney and Sanrio product. However I bought a packet of marshmallow candy and a box of Disney chocolate roll crepe, total cost me $1.40.

We continued to explored the areas around there and found some nice location to take pictures. After that we returned to our hotel shop to do our very last min shopping. I got a backpack for mummy.

At the end of the shopping, my wallet is totally empty except the tax fee (500 baht).

Driver picked us up to the airport. Since I am broke, I starved myself until near 4pm to wait for the in-flight meal as lunch. I was totally sleeping except my meal break throughout the flight even the plane was shaking badly due to turbulence. I felt I was sitting the roller coaster for the last one hour before reaching Singapore.

When I landed Singapore, mummy rang me to scold me. Duh.. She haven’t seen me and was scolding for not coming out fast. My plane landed @ 6pm sharp but it took 15 min to park and a few min to pass the custom and collection of baggage. Mummy is nagging non stop already..

Mummy was very cute when i took my dirty clothes. When i opened my baggage, she saw the backbag tat i purchased at very last min shopping spree. She loved it badly though she felt tat the colour is too modern for her. She sat next to me and listen my story and see tons of gifts tat i got for her.

Btw, thanks for listening my craps..
